To celebrate National Band Competition in August, we want to see photos of Sea Cadets singing or playing instruments that demonstrate your creativity, musical talent and flair for fun.

If your photo is selected as the best one, you’ll win a Rolling Spider flying mini camera for your unit! They’re perfect for taking amazing aerial photos and videos of parade nights, sailing, windsurfing…. the list is endless! All of the entries will also appear in a gallery on Current.

The competition will be judged by Captain Sea Cadets Captain Philip Russell. He will be looking for the most creative photos, which best demonstrate the Sea Cadet spirit, ethos and values. Your picture could show cadets singing while sailing, doing a rhapsody while rowing, bugling on bikes, howling on top of a hill – put your heads together and see what you can come up with!

How to enter:

  • Email your photos to
  • Photos must be taken by a current cadet or volunteer
  • All cadets shown in the photos must have signed permission slips from their parents consenting their involvement and consenting to the photos being shared on all the Sea Cadets social media channels. (A permission form template can be downloaded from our Training & Administration website)
  • The last day for entries is Sunday 16 August
  • The winning photo will be announced on Friday 21 August, the day before our National Band Competition
